The coach has a long history in local high school sports.

Mitch Cohen, a former assistant coach at Conwell-Egan and Bensalem and the defensive coordinator of the Bulldogs for the past four years, is the new head football coach at Morrisville, writes Drew Markol for the Philly Burbs.

And Cohen already has plans for his new position.

“The biggest thing is that you have to get the kids to buy into what you and the coaching staff are trying to do,” said Cohen.

He added that the former head coach Steve Schweiker built an excellent foundation.

“We’re looking to take things to the next level and I believe we can do that,” said Cohen. “We just need to help build up the confidence of the kids and get Morrisville back on the football map.”

Morrisville is a PIAA Class A program and District One’s second-smallest school enrollment wise. The program was 1-9 just a year ago, and three of those losses came from a combined 10 points. The team has not had a winning season since 2010.

“We’re going in the right direction,” said Cohen. “Our lifting program is getting there and our numbers are pretty good.”
