Plans for the play, which was postponed due to poor air quality, have been cancelled.

Due to elements out of the control of event organizers, a postponed play in Bucks County has been permanently canceled.

The Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival has announced that a performance of William Shakespeare’s famous play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, which was set to be held at the Bucks County Courthouse in Doylestown, will no longer be moving forward.

The organization responded to a question posed on their official Facebook page regarding the postponed show.

“Unfortunately we are unable to reschedule the cancelled performance,” the organization said. “The last opportunity to see the production will be on July 1 at 3pm at PSF’s inaugural Community Day. We hope to see you there!”

The play was initially postponed due to the dangerous air conditions caused by a series of wildfires in Canada, the smoke from which made its way to Pennsylvania earlier this month.

Based in Center Valley, the theater organization has hosted renditions of the Bard’s works across the state.

For those who were looking forward to the event, the poor air quality that canceled the event truly was, in the words of Hermia in the play, a “thief of love!”
