The nonprofit is looking for eligible candidates for the scholarship.

A nonprofit in Bucks County is offering a scholarship to high school students in New Jersey who are passionate about the environment.

Spearhead Project Earth, the nonprofit arm of Yardley-based Spearhead Group, has announced that it will fund an environmental scholarship award open to graduates of the 2023 class of Burlington City High School.

The winner will receive a $2,000 scholarship grant with selection based on essay submissions about the impact of single-use plastics on the environment. The scholarship is inspired by the mission of the nonprofit, which is currently leading a cleanup effort on Burlington Island.

“We are thrilled to be offering this scholarship program to Burlington City High School graduates,” said Robert Catalano, Founder and President of Spearhead Project Earth. “We believe that young people are critical to creating a more sustainable future for all.”

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be graduates of the 2023 Burlington City High School senior class and must submit an original one-page essay on the topic of the impact of single-use plastics on our environment.

Essays will be judged based on the clarity, originality and strength of their arguments. For 2023, there will be one scholarship winner to be announced soon.
