Philadelphia is in the bottom half among the 76 largest cities in the United States based on how far a $250,000 salary can actually go, write John Klyce and Lisa Dukart for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Earlier this year, SmartAsset, the financial technology company, ranked 76 of the largest cities in the U.S. to determine where $100,000 in salary goes the furthest. The analysis found that Philadelphians earning a $100,000 salary take home $65,427, which put the City of Brotherly Love at No. 52.

Now SmartAsset has performed another study, to determine where a $250,000 salary goes the furthest. To achieve this, SmartAsset compared the after-tax incomes in each city and adjusted them based on the cost of living in each location.

This time Philadelphia did a bit better, but only by a slim margin. It came in at No. 51, which still places it in the lower half of the list.

Philadelphia residents who make $250,000 can expect a take-home pay of $153,160. Read more about how far a $250,000 salary goes in Philadelphia in the Philadelphia Business Journal.
