Mitchell Morgan, owner of King of Prussia-based Morgan Properties, is among the investors who are supporting private-equity billionaire and Sixers co-owner Josh Harris’s $6.05 billion bid to buy the NFL’s Washington Commanders, writes Joseph N. DiStefano for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

In addition to Morgan, the group behind Harris also includes former Google boss Eric Schmidt and NBA star Magic Johnson, among others.

Morgan Properties, one of the three largest U.S. apartment landlords, “has a large presence in the Maryland-DC Corridor and we’ve seen first hand how impactful sports can be in building community,” said Morgan.

“We are also diehard sports fanatics, and look forward to bringing our passion for sports to this iconic franchise.”

Morgan Properties owns 300 predominantly working-class and middle-class apartment complexes across 15 states. The company tends to acquire developments that are in need of an upgrade.

Meanwhile, Morgan has hosted many fundraisers for GOP national candidates, including George W. Bush, John McCain, and Mitt Romney, at his Gladwyne home. A Temple University board chairman, he is also a longtime donor to the educational institution.
