Hatboro Native Honored by Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women

Hatboro native and Upper Moreland High School graduate Emma Meakim, of the Kutztown University women’s lacrosse team, has been named 2022-23 Outstanding Athletes of the Year in her sport by the Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women, according to a staff report from Kutztown News.

Meakim fully developed into one of the elite players in the PSAC women’s lacrosse scene in the spring. She set Golden Bear program single-season records of 59 assists and 82 points and led Kutztown to a record-tying 13 wins this season. She also played a major role in the team making its first-ever appearances in the PSAC Championship and NCAA Division II Championship tournaments.

The talented athlete shattered her previous career-highs of 16 assists and 47 points. She also scored 23 goals. Over the last three seasons, Meakim has amassed 62 goals and 81 assists in 49 games for 143 points. She is also already Kutztown University’s career leader in assists and ranks fifth in points.

She claimed several honors this season, including All-PSAC East First Team, IWLCA All-Atlantic Region First Team, and IWLCA All-America Third Team honors.
