Cement Mason from Bucks County Construction Group One of Many Repairing I-95

The highway was partially reopened, with several Philadelphia sports mascots making the first crossing.

As construction crews hurry to reopen part of I-95 in a timely manner, one cement mason from Bucks County has worked hard to help. Rosa Cartagena wrote about the local organizations involvement in the project for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Toni Harris, a resident of West Philadelphia, is a cement mason with Bucks Concrete Services, located in Langhorne, and a member of Local 592 of Cement Masons and Plasterers. Since the recent collapse of a part of I-95, Harris has been working to help repair the highway and make it accessible for all once again.

Given the importance of the project being done as soon as possible, Harris is understanding of how busy the project has left her and others involved.

“Normally you get half hour breaks for lunch, now it’s, ‘Yo, go grab your lunch!’” she said. “You might have a shovel in one hand and a sandwich in the other.”

The contributions of masons like Harris will help the highway, given the circumstances of its partial closure.
