The high school senior won first place in the chocolate contest and second for the culinary contest.

A student at a Bucks County high school recently won a major cooking competition, walking away with thousands in scholarship money.

Alyssa, a senior at Pennsbury High School in Fairless Hills, won first place for her chocolate cake at the Walnut Hill College Chocolate Competition on April 29. As part of her reward, she received a $6,000 scholarship, $1,000 for participating, and a $500 donation to the Pennsbury Culinary program.

Along with this victory, Alyssa also won second place for her chicken dish at the Walnut Hill Culinary Competition, which took place on May 6. This second place position saw her win an additional $3,000 scholarship.

“Way to go, Alyssa!” the Pennsbury School District said online.

She is not the only Bucks County student to win big at the competition. Back in January, Hannah Dillon, a senior at Bucks County Technical High School, took home the top prize in a cooking competition held by SkillsUSA at the same Philadelphia college. She won first place in the Commercial Baking category.

Fellow Tech School student Kayla Arana-LaBianco won third place in the Culinary Arts category at the same competition.
