River Road, spanning from Bristol to Easton, might be best known as the way to New Hope, but it is also loaded with history and natural landmarks that make it ideal for a daily road trip, writes Sandy Smith for the Philadelphia Magazine.

Start the trip by wandering Bristol’s cute downtown area. You will find a riverfront park with a lagoon that has information about the waterway’s history.

Northeast of downtown Bristol is the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Museum, where you can see how the upper half lived in the Victorian era.

Next on the list is Pennsbury Manor, a reproduction of William Penn’s 1683 estate built in the late 1930s.

However one of the must-visit stops during the ride is the local natural wonder Ringing Rocks Park near Upper Black Eddy. This field is filled with boulders that resonate like bells when hit with a hammer.

Make sure to stop in New Hope, the liveliest place on the journey that is the home of the Great Barn Taproom, which has the only farm-to-glass beer brewed in the area.
