The raffle saw a local couple win a new vehicle.

A couple from Bucks County were the lucky winners of a new car they received from an annual raffle event in a nearby town. Jeff Werner wrote about the lucking couple for the Newtown, PA Patch.

Pickering Manor, located at 226 North Lincoln Avenue in Newtown, held their 10th Annual Car Raffle on Friday. The winners, chosen by Pickering Manor residents Ann and Ross Hendricks, were Ted and Karyn Palka of Holland.

“The lady who picked the ticket, her name was Ann. I leaned over to Ted and said, ‘That’s my mother’s name.’ And then I said, ‘Maybe we’ll win.’ And what a surprise, we won.”

The assisted living facility started the raffle almost a decade ago and the success was so great that they have made it a yearly event.

“We are proud to be an independent, nonprofit long term care facility serving this community. And we couldn’t do this without all of you,” said Pickering Manor CEO David Woodhead.
