The religious centers of Bucks County are celebrating the end of the month of fasting.

For people of the Muslim faith, today is the first day of Ramadan, and several centers in Bucks County are acknowledging the holiday.

Ramadan, a traditional month of fasting in Islam, begins this week. Lasting until late April, the religious obligation is considered one of the most important times of the year for Muslims worldwide, where followers fast during the day as an act of devotion.

The Zubaida Foundation, located at 855 Big Oak Road in Yardley, acknowledged the beginning of the holiday online.

“Insha’Allah, the first fast of Ramadan will be on Thursday, March 23rd, 2023,” the foundation said. Prayer services to begin the holiday will be held on the evening of March 22.

The Faith Unity Islamic Center, located at 5961 Bensalem Boulevard in Bensalem, also wrote about the holiday.

“As we look forward to the month and its blessings, please consider helping us complete Phase 1 of our masjid project to build a masjid for the huge community of Muslims in Bensalem, PA!”

The Tamca Yunus Emre Cami, located 541 Levittown Parkway in Levittown, also acknowledged the religious holiday.

“Our dear Brothers! Happy Ramadan to all of us!”
