A retirement home in Bucks County is offering a fun and interactive activity for the senior citizens living at the well-known location.

For Bob Long of Solebury Township, the most important thing when searching for a retirement community was that it offered a gardening option.

Long spent 75 years of his life gardening and he did not plan on stopping. Moving into Pine Run Retirement Community ensured that he would continue to flex his green thumb.

The retirement community in Central Bucks County is set on 43 stunning rolling acres near Doylestown and boasts many natural spaces, such as a pond, a creek, and lush landscaping.

The independent living garden cottages all have their own entrances and make the most of the beautiful view. The community is also home to Back Ache-ers, a communal garden space with 30 wooden raised garden beds waiting for residents to plant anything from beans to tomatoes.

“As soon as I moved into Pine Run, I put my name on the waiting list for a box in Back Ache-ers,” said Long. “I had to wait a year, but I got it. I’ve always been an avid gardener. It’s just that now, my tractor has been replaced by a wheelbarrow.”
