GMercyU’s Integrated Studies program is hosting a weeklong Summer Institute to introduce college life to students with intellectual disabilities.

Throughout the week, students will build college-readiness stills and facilitate a transition into college life. Focus areas include college-level technologies and skills, career exploration, building social connections, and establishing familiarity with a college campus.

Activities for the Summer Institute include self-advocacy, writing workshops, resume building, grocery shopping, meal preparation, public speaking, movie night, community events, and college exploration.

GMercyU’s Integrated Studies program staff, Occupational Therapy Doctoral (OTD) students, and undergraduate student counselors will lead the weeklong Summer Institute. Staff will accompany students in any off-campus experiences, and the counselors and OTD students will remain on campus, rotating to have an “on call” night.

Applications are due by May 15.
