PennDOT will close several roads this week to install rumble strips, such as the ones pictured above.

Several roads in the Bucks County area are set to see closures as an important addition is made to the side of each of them. Christopher Dornblaser wrote about the closures for the Bucks County Courier Times.

Parts of Route 13 in Lower Bucks will be closed by construction crews this week to install more safety enhancements on the road.

According to PennDOT, Route 13, also known as Bristol Pike, will be closed periodically Wednesday through Friday from 9 AM – 3 PM.

As part of its project to improve travel and lower the number of high-speed crashes in the region, PennDOT will be working on placing rumble strips along Route 13 in Bristol Township, Bensalem, and Tullytown, between Mill Road and Levittown Parkway.

Because backups and delays are expected, drivers will need to make sure to allow for additional time when traveling through the work areas.

The roughly $7.5 million project is being funded completely by federal funds.

Over the past several years, Route 13 has seen a number of crashes, including some involving pedestrians. Eight fatal crashes happened along the route in Bristol Township, Bristol Borough, and Tullytown in 2021, five of which involved pedestrians.

Three fatal crashes occurred in 2020 and two in 2019.
