The second lane will help to clear up traffic caused by the popular eatery.

Due to the popularity of a particular restaurant, officials in Bucks County are moving forward with plans to make getting takeout easier. Dino Ciliberti wrote about the updates to the restaurant for the Bensalem Patch.

Due to long lines for picking up orders, Chick-fil-A in Bensalem will soon be expanding its drive-thru access.

A representative for the popular restaurant chain said that the pandemic has significantly altered its business model as now around 70 percent of its customers throughout the country use the drive-thru instead of dining inside the restaurant or coming in to pick up takeout.

So to help clear up congestion and improve traffic flow, Bensalem Township Council recently approved a second drive-thru lane for Chick-fil-A at 3621 Horizon Boulevard.

According to Township Solicitor Joseph Pizzo, the council already had the land development improvements agreement prepared for the January 23 meeting. The papers were ready for the council to approve even without any representatives from the fast-food chain needing to be present.

The council’s decision to approve the request was unanimous.

The proposal for an extra lane follows a similar request made last month at Horsham Township in Montgomery County, which also got approved.
