A Bucks County couple has come together after their friendship blossomed into something else, and now they are telling their story. Kellie Patrick Gates wrote about the relationship for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Jill Polonsky and Peter Diana, both of Bensalem, started out as friends before their relationship took a romantic turn.
The couple first met when Jill, originally from Levittown, needed to recruit more men over 50 for her Sweet Beginnings introduction services. Peter accepted, so the matchmaker started setting him up with women. Some dates went better than others, but nothing led to anything long-term.
With each phone call, 65-year-old Jill learned more about Peter, now 70, and vice versa.
“We talked about meeting as friends, since we live in the same neighborhood,” said Jill.
That happened in January of 2022, after Jill’s husband had died and she needed support. A few months later, the couple realized they were interested in each other romantically.
Since they admitted their feelings for each other, the couple has enjoyed traveling, taking walks and hikes, and cooking for each other.
“I had led a sheltered existence, especially in my marriage, and I feel that he has introduced me to a new world and is helping me grow,” said Jill.
