The inn was purchased by a Bucks County couple who loved both the property and the area.

A Bucks County couple recently made a unique purchase by buying a popular inn outside of the area, offering a great place to stay. Marcia Moore wrote about the recent purchase for The Daily Item.

Bucks County real estate investors Celso and Margarida Leite have finalized their purchase of the Selinsgrove Inn in Snyder County. The couple plan on continuing to operate the 24-room inn as a hotel. The inn is well positioned in Selinsgrove and convenient for downtown shops and Susquehanna University, as well as for Susquehanna River, streams, and trails.

“We like the property and what’s around it,” said Celso Leite. “I am sure people will be attracted to the area.”

The inn, which was built in 2007 by Scott Shaffer, has been on the market for a few years for $2.65 million. There were plans for the building to be acquired by a nonprofit organization that fell through.

Selinsgrove council member Bobbie Owens said the inn is a borough asset and that he is pleased it will continue to operate.

“I’m happy for it to be retained as a hotel and staying on the tax rolls,” said Owens.

Leite envisions the inn as playing a more active role within the community.

“We want to create an environment not just as a hotel, but as part of the community,” he said.
