Some of the 100-plus-year-old St. Valentine’s Polish National Catholic Church’s cemetery in Bensalem could soon be redeveloped as part of a Delaware Valley Residential Care project, writes Damon C. Williams for the Bucks County Courier Times.

The Warminster-based brain injury rehabilitation organization plans to build a new rehabilitation center and short-term residential facility on an eight-acre site.

The organization plans to build a two-story day center and five residential dwellings, along with a basketball court and parking lot on the subdivided lands.

The second lot currently serves as the cemetery grounds, with around half of seven acres currently used as burial plots.

According to Rev. Mariusz Mularczyk, all the burial plots will remain where they are.

Delaware Valley Residential Care will appear before Bensalem’s Zoning Hearing Board next month to apply for variances required for the project to proceed. The sale of the property is contingent on DVRC receiving the necessary approvals.

“Nothing has been sold,” said Mularczyk. “It has been in the market and we have some good offers, but nothing is truly set yet.”

“But this is a good project for Bensalem,” he added.
