Career, Technical Education Centers in Bucks County to Receive $1.2M from State for New Equipment
Several Bucks County schools have recently benefited from state-granted funds meant to assist education centers in and around Philadelphia. Aubri Juhasz wrote about the funding for WHYY.
Career and technical education centers in the suburbs will receive $1.2 million from the state this year for new equipment. This move further solidifies Gov. Tom Wolf’s spending record in his final days in office.
Education facilities in the greater Philadelphia area that received the funds include the Bucks County Technical High School and the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, which received $50,000 each. The Upper Bucks County Technical School was granted $30,167.
The North Montco Tech Career Center and Western Montgomery Career and Technology Center also received $50,000 each. The Chester County Technical College High School got $11,000.
When he took office in 2015, Wolf noted that increasing funding for education was his top priority. Since then, his administration has distributed over $3.7 billion in additional dollars for all levels of education.
The state chose 33 career and technical centers along with two school districts to each receive up to $50,000.
“Investing in career readiness and career exploration is a priority for the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and we encourage recipients to utilize this funding to enhance and expand these learning programs which will help students excel in their chosen fields,” said acting Secretary of Education Eric Hagarty.
