While UFO sightings are not uncommon in the United States, with all the states having at least an occasional report of an unidentified flying object, for some, these sightings are much more prevalent, writes Nicole Caldwell for tucson.com.

Using data from NUFORC’s 24/7 hotline, Stacker compiled a ranking of the states with the highest number of reported UFO sightings.

According to the report, Pennsylvanians do not notice as many strange objects in the sky as residents of most other states.

The Keystone State ranked at No. 35 with 37 UFO sightings per 100,000 population.

One of the most famous sightings is the state’s own version of the Roswell incident. In 1965, a fireball flying across the sky was witnessed by thousands of onlookers across six states. The object caused sonic booms near Pittsburgh and ended up crashing into Kecksburg.

The object was recovered – or as some believe, covered up – by the U.S. military.

NASA handed over its Kecksburg files in 2007, but a number of files that the organization forwarded to the National Archives in 1967 were allegedly catalogued as lost in 1987.
