A major holiday celebration will be held in Bucks County this weekend, with an important tradition being the centerpiece of the event. Jeff Werner wrote about the upcoming event in the Doylestown Patch.

The first night of Hanukkah will be celebrated in Doylestown on Dec. 18. Festivities will be held from 1 – 3 PM at the corner of State and Hamilton streets.

Hosted by Temple Judea Reform Synagogue of Doylestown and jkidphilly, the event will see locals and visitors celebrate the first night of the holiday through fun actives and the symbolic wearing of hats made to look like menorahs and candles.

“We love gathering around the giant sevivon (dreidel) to sing, dance and have doughnuts,” said Rabbi Sigal Brier. “It is always great fun for people of all ages.”

A similar event will be held in Yardley over the weekend as well. Both events will give people of the Jewish faith a great way to celebrate one of their most important holidays.
