The local gardener has been tending to her plants for years.

A well-known author and gardening enthusiast from Bucks County is showing off her large garden, which has garnered national attention. Nancy Ondra wrote about her large garden in Report Wire.

Hayefield, which Nancy Ondra has been tending to for over 20 years, began as a literally hay field that was on her family’s farm property. After building her own log cabin, the estate became her full-time home.

Ondra’s books like Tried and True Perennials and Five-Plant Gardens: 52 Ways to Grow a Perennial Garden with Just Five Plants have made her a wealth of information for outdoor enthusiasts across the country.

“Over the years, the garden areas have served many purposes,” Ondra said. “They’ve been a living laboratory where I’ve worked on plant combinations and color themes and experimented with garden maintenance techniques for the books I’ve written. They’ve provided endless opportunities for garden photography as well.”

With a combination of wild plants and vegetables in her vegetable garden, the estate has become a well-known natural landscape for gardening enthusiasts to enjoy and take notes from.
