The Newtown eatery opened its doors to a successful first day.

A new bakery in Bucks County just celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a successful first day of local business.

Mamie Collette, located at 202 South State Street in Newtown, opened their doors to local residents earlier this month. Since then, the bakery has regularly sold out of their freshly baked goods.

“Day 1 of Mamie Colette has been such an amazing day,” the bakery said on Nov. 8. “Many thanks to everyone who paid us a visit and extended a very warm welcome! It’s been a pleasure meeting you all.”

An artisan bakery that specializes in French-style baked goods, the eatery is named after the owner’s grandmother (‘Mamie’ in French), who moved from the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe to Chartres, France to give her family a better life.

“Congratulations to Mamie Colette on your official grand opening in Newtown Borough!” State Senator Steve Santarsiero said on social media.
