A Bucks County nonprofit has been diligently working to help wild animals get the rehabilitation they need for several decades. Todd Haas wrote about the organization for 6ABC.

With the help of its dedicated volunteers, AARK Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center in Chalfont has been rehabbing wild animals for more than four decades. The nonprofit has also recently expanded its Bucks County home to compensate for a huge flow of animals.

“In 2019, we had way outgrown our space,” said Leah Stallings, Executive Director of AARK. “We were doing over 5,000 animals a year. The space was too small.”

The nonprofit launched a campaign to raise money and built its new clinic that is much better equipped to accommodate the ever-growing number of wild animals in need.

AARK takes in orphaned or injured native wildlife and rehabs them until they are deemed fit to be released back into the wild. Animals that are determined unfit for release stay in the care of the facility’s volunteers. They live out the rest of their lives at AARK where they serve an important purpose: they pose as educational tools that teach visitors how to improve their interactions with the environment and the animals that live within it.
