Bucks County just swore in their new Chief Deputy Coroner, who has a long history in the field and a track record of helping authorities. Staff writers for WFMZ 69 News wrote about the new appointee.

Danakelly Hampton, the new Chief Deputy Coroner, was officially sworn in on Tuesday. Hampton previously served as a forensic investigator in the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office before joining the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office in Chicago.

Cook County Board of Commissioners presented Hampton with a commendation for her work in June 2017. She was recognized for identifying a methamphetamine lab, alerting the proper authorities, and then successfully directing the evacuation of any occupants from the building to a safe area.

Last year, she aided the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office with a backlog of cases related to the COVID-19 pandemic. After that, she returned to the region as Chief of Forensic Investigations tasked with turning around a fledgling Pennsylvania County Medical Examiner’s Office.

In her new position, Hampton will be responsible for ensuring that the office is up to date with new technologies and getting the assorted office accreditations and staff certifications within the field of forensics.
