Opposing Players Who Underestimate Bristol Linebacker Due to His Size Realize Their Mistake by Second Quarter
A Bucks County high school football player is being recognized for his skills on the fields, playing as a linebacker for a major team. Tom Moore wrote about the local player for the Bucks County Courier Times.
Jordan Colon is accustomed to being underestimated by opposing players due to his size, but it doesn’t take long for the junior offensive guard/outside linebacker for Bristol to make them change their mindsIt always happens “during the first quarter,” said Colon. “They change their minds during the second. It feels very gratifying.”
The 5-foot-8, 175-pounder has helped his team move on to Saturday night’s District 1/12/3 Class 2A regional final. He primarily does it through hard work and a solid technique. He is also quick to credit Bristol coaches for their contributions, especially defensive coordinator Dan Collins and offensive line coach Chuck Collins.
“I feel like it’s definitely how hard we work at practice,” said Colon. “(Those two coaches) push me the hardest. They know I’ll do what needs to be done.”
He started as a wide receiver as a freshman at Bristol High School, but when the coaches noticed how well he blocked, they decided to move him to the position as offensive guard. That is where he started on the varsity as a sophomore.
