Starting in Bensalem, the tech company is now being acknowledged by local politicians.

PDC Machines, the family-owned manufacturer of hydrogen compressors based in Warminster, recently hosted Neil Weaver, the state’s community and economic development secretary, for a tour of its new manufacturing facility in Lower Salford Township. Justin Backover wrote about the local company for WFMZ 69.

The company has seen tremendous growth since it was founded in a Bensalem garage in the 1970s. Today, at least half of the worldwide hydrogen fueling stations are using PDC Machines’ compressor technology, according to Mateen Afzal, president of the business started by his father.

The company’s compressors are used to refuel various vehicles, including cars, public transit, delivery vehicles, and even some trains. The company currently has 250 employees globally.

“We’ve seen a lot of tremendous growth in the hydrogen market,” said Afzal. “In the past two years, we’ve doubled our revenue from last year to this year.”

During his visit, Weaver pointed out the tremendous opportunity to expand hydrogen in Pennsylvania thanks to the funds in both the infrastructure bill and the Inflation Reduction Act.

“There’s billions of dollars available to get this industry up and running, and we want to make sure we get a part of it,” said Afzal.
