Discover Lancaster's Coffee Trail is a serving of caffeine with a stir of small-business support and participant rewards.

Pennsylvania’s food-and-drink profile has yielded numerous ways to experience it: ale trails, apple trails, even a pickle-centric trail. With this popularity in mind, Discover Lancaster has brewed up its own version: a new coffee trail.

The online initiative appropriately debuts today, Sept. 29, National Coffee Day.

The trail was developed in partnership with Bandwango, a Utah mobile technology consulting firm.

Accessible by mobile passport, the technology provides users with information on 20+ unique coffee shops across Lancaster County. It not only makes them easier to find and scope out but it also entices users with java-oriented exclusive deals and discounts.

Discover Lancaster is also filtering in some enticements of its own. Digital check-ins at the listed coffee shops can be exchanged for branded swag:

  • Five stops earn a user a Discover Lancaster sticker and coaster
  • Ten visits are recognized with a Discover Lancaster coffee mug
  • 15 caffeinated connections yield a Discover Lancaster canvas bag

Rewards are redeemable at the Discover Lancaster Visitors Center, 501 Greenfield Road, Lancaster.

Ed Harris, Discover Lancaster President and CEO, said: “Our new mobile-based coffee trail highlights the many small businesses that have poured everything they have into opening the coffee shop of their dreams.

“From Lancaster City, to Intercourse, to Ephrata, and everywhere in between, there’s a wide range of unique coffee shop experiences that can be found in our towns across Lancaster County.

“This initiative’s rollout comes at a time when tourism has traditionally seen an uptick in out-of-town visitors arriving for the popular fall harvest season. This is one more fun activity to add to a jam-packed itinerary to enhance the Lancaster County visitor experience.

“There’s plenty of options to find a great coffee and especially a seasonal pumpkin-spiced latte.”
