The Bucks County resident utilized the internet over the course of the pandemic.

A single Bucks County father of two turned to Internet Essentials during the pandemic when internet access proved to be a necessity for every household, writes Comcast’s Freedom Region Blog.

Up until that point, Bilal did not believe the internet was something his family needed. His job kept him on the road for most of the day, his daughter was in college, and his son spent most of his time playing sports outside. But once the pandemic struck, everything changed.

Bilal learned about Internet Essentials, the largest and most comprehensive private-sector broadband adoption program for low-income households in the nation, from a friend at the United Way of Bucks County.

The organization, along with St. Mary’s Medical Center, partnered with Comcast to provide access to Internet Essentials for remote learning, work, telemedicine, and more to Bucks County residents in need at no cost.

Bilal joined the program and was able to benefit from it for a year. He was also given a free laptop by the United Way of Bucks County.

“Internet Essentials is a great program because not everyone can afford the Internet, especially single-parent households like my own,” said Bilal.
