A former journalist from the Bucks County area is continuing her search for a living kidney donor so she can get a much-needed transplant. The journalist, Petra Schlatter, wrote about her search for the Lower Southampton Patch.

Schlatter, a retired journalist who wrote for The Advance of Bucks County, Yardley News and BucksLocalNews.com, is looking to avoid dialysis and find a viable donor.

“I want to experience my grandchildren grow up. Being with them brings joy to my life,” Schlatter said. “My grandson just turned two-years-old and my granddaughter just celebrated her eighth birthday.”

With type-O Positive blood, Schlatter is looking for a donor with either type-O Positive or type-O Negative blood.

“Donation of a living kidney will greatly increase my quality of life and prevent dialysis which cannot be performed forever. If I do not find a living donor, I would start dialysis by the end of the year.”
