Umbrellas and sunscreen were donated by a King of Prussia dermatology practice to Upper Merion Township pool.

Dermatology Partners, taking pity perhaps on the crew of lifeguards who spend summers perched with watchful eyes high above area pools, has made a helpful donation to protect them.

The skincare health provider sent umbrellas and bottles of sunscreen to the lifeguards and staff at the Upper Merion Township pool. It hopes the gifts (lotion was also provided to swimmers and sunbathers) will serve as a reminder that, even with daylight waning toward autumn, skin protection is still important.

The practice’s experts pointed out that “…even when the sun is not shining as bright, our skin needs protection from the harmful UV rays which still penetrate even on the cloudiest days. It’s important to protect yourself from the sun’s damaging UV rays by applying sunscreen to your skin.”

The 2022 presentation marks the second year running for the practice to connect with swimmers and sunbathers.

“With our sponsorship with the Upper Merion Township Pool we hope to remind everyone of the importance of applying sunscreen and to reapply while you’re at the pool,” said Andrew Kay, VP of Growth & Business Development at Dermatology Partners. In addition to limiting exposure, Dermatology Partners staff recommends inspecting skin regularly for new bumps, spots, scaly patches that are slow to heal, moles, and dark spots. They all could represent the onset of skin cancer, which is highly treatable when detected early.
