Bucks County Park Removed Memorial for Their Late Son. The Family is Still Determined to Keep His Memory Alive

A local family was left confused and heartbroken after a Bucks County park removed the memorial for their late son. However, they are determined to keep his memory alive. Olivia Benner and Brian Sheehan wrote about the family’s experience for NBC 10 Philadelphia.

Jennifer and Kevin Murphy experienced a devastating loss in 2019. Their son, Christian, passed away just days after his first birthday. To honor his memory, the family worked with Northampton Township to put up a memorial in his name.

When the parents came to visit the memorial on Christian’s four birthday, they were confused and saddened to find that the sign was removed from the Northampton Municipal Park Complex. When they reached out to the township, they were told it was removed because some parents did not want to explain the sign’s meaning their children.

Christian’s mother took to social media to vent her outrage at the act. After receiving severe backlash, the township offered to put the memorial back; the Murphy family declined, opting to have it moved to the daycare that Christian attended and had so many fun moments at.
