Welcome Homes, a New York City-based tech platform to help users build their own homes, is entering the Philadelphia-area market in hopes of capitalizing on the growing interest in Bucks County, writes Michaela Althouse for Technical.ly.

The startup uses tech to help those who want to build their own homes. Using the Welcome Homes platform, users can browse available parcels of land to find the one they want to build on.

After they purchase the land, users can virtually design their home on the site, connect to financing, get the required closing documents, and link up with local builders and architects as well as an inspector who will approve the property.

According to Welcome Homes CEO Alec Hartman, the startup can do all of this at a fixed price and timeline.

“Tech overall enables people to get more work done faster — and actually try to bridge the problems we have with the disparity between the housing that we want and the housing that we have coming,” said Hartman.

The company recognized the Philadelphia area as a seller’s market primarily due to high interest in Bucks County and southwest New Jersey.
