Fins Feathers Paws & Claws in Quakertown is continuing to record increased business as the bird sector continues to thrive following the pandemic surge in sales, writes Ethan D. Mizer for Pet Product News.

Sales of bird cages remain strong, but the sizes of the enclosures are shifting as the demand for smaller birds continues to grow.

“Small birds are selling well,” said Pamela Herron, co-owner of Fins Feathers Paws & Claws. “Small cages are doing well as a result. The Hagen cages are popular because the food and water dishes are on the bottom of the cage.”

One of the reasons for this growing popularity of smaller birds is prices.

“This season and last season, there was a huge change from big birds to little birds, because the price tripled for all birds,” she said.

Many bird-owners are also buying toys and items to offer engagement to their feathered friends.

“This season, we saw the new HARI toys that came through Hagen Group,” said Herron. “HARI put out a whole line of foraging and interactive toys, which were amazing. And the pricing was very good.”
