The trail is considered a must-stop for local outdoor enthusiasts.

Travel + Leisure could have pointed 2022’s vacation-seeking readers to sun-soaked beaches. Or eclectic global cities. Instead, the magazine is recommending one of Bucks County’s gems: New Hope. Lindsay Cohn sang the destination’s praises.

“Sometimes it’s a weekend trip to a charming small town that lures you back time and time again,” she wrote, explaining her pick. “Situated on the Delaware River, [New Hope is] the perfect spot to spend a couple of days checking out the many interesting local attractions, sipping cider, dining at excellent restaurants, enjoying evening entertainment, boating, and listening to live outdoor music,” she elaborated.

Cohn’s recommended sights to see are:

  • Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve
  • The New Hope segment of the Delaware Canal towpath
  • The programs of New Hope Arts, including its summer film festival and the outdoor sculpture project
  • The Bucks County Playhouse
  • The New Hope Railroad

These are popular with out-of-town tourists, but it’s a fair bet there are locals who have never taken advantage of these treasures, either. Summer 2022 is an ideal time for natives to catch up.

Cohn then points to the following accommodations as best for overnights (again, something that can be enjoyed by residents):

  • River House at Odette’s
  • The Inn at Bowman’s Hill

And her must-do foodie stops are:

  • Bowman’s Tavern
  • The Dubliner
  • Nektar

More to see, do, enjoy, sip, and savor in New Hope is at Travel + Leisure.

Travel + Leisure isn’t the only authority recommending New Hope.
