Brandon Dixon, a former basketball star at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School and a youth coach, has been taken at age 30 on May 9, writes Jennifer Lawson for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Dixon was shot while pumping gas in Philadelphia.

He grew up in Germantown, but his mother moved them to Plymouth Meeting over concerns about increasing crime in the city.

A talented athlete, Dixon flourished at Plymouth Whitemarsh. He was instrumental in helping his team win the PIAA championship in 2010.

He continued his education at Manor College in Jenkintown but soon left to work for a roofing company. His daughter was born in 2017.

When Dixon’s mother inherited her grandmother’s house, she moved back to Philadelphia. So after breaking up with his girlfriend in March, Dixon moved in with her.

Two months later, he was ambushed by two shooters at the Liberty gas station on East Mount Airy Avenue in broad daylight. Surveillance video of the attack has been widely publicized due to its brazen nature. The authorities have made one arrest so far.
