Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something … Ukrainian? This Wedding Dress Has a Backstory

By

When Coatesville resident and bride-to-be Megan Teti found the right designer for the wedding dress of her dreams, she was not expecting Maria Kolomoiets to continue working on it after having to flee her war-ravaged home in Ukraine, writes Beccah Hendrickson for 6abc.

Searching for the perfect gown for her perfect day, Teti was delighted to find Kolomoiets on Etsy.

However, her relief turned to horror when Kolomoiets told her she had to escape to Portugal with her family.

“My main motivation is to support my family. I just cannot stop,” said Kolomoiets, owner of Sumaorokova Bridal.

Teti offered to let the designer keep the deposit and cancel the order, but Kolomoiets worked extra hard to ensure that Teti’s dress was made and shipped.

“I’m just blown away by her dedication to her craft, knowing she was still willing to do this,” said Teti. “Now knowing everything this dress has gone through just makes it that much more special on the day.”
