The Bucks County Courier Times, citing a “rapid shift toward digital news consumption” is deepening its use of digital news delivery. The Monday paper-based edition ceases Apr. 25.
The revised publication schedule brings traditionally printed to readers on Tues.–Fri. and Sun.
Its altered frequency also applies to the The Intelligencer out of Doylestown.
A “continued rapid shifts toward digital news consumption” was cited as the driver of the change.
The published explanation continued: “The platforms on which people are consuming news continue to evolve. What was once solely a daily newspaper has transformed to include a digital site, mobile app, social media presence, multimedia and more. Our print newspapers remain a vital and important part of our strategy.”
Monday mornings’ replacement, an e-edition, will have the same look and feel as its pulpy counterpart. Further, as a Gannett publication, the e-edition is able to provide access to more than 200 USA TODAY publications nationwide.
The revised publication schedule is also enabling the paper to increase coverage of local and world news, as well as sports.
Reader favorites such as the crossword puzzle and horoscopes will be gathered in a new, easier-to-read format.
The Bucks County Courier Times resulted from a 1954 merger between the Bristol Courier and the Levittown Times.
