Cochranville resident Margaret Hollinger — a singer, actress, writer, fundraiser, and more — has died at 79, writes Gary Miles for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Hollinger made her professional stage debut as an eight-year-old and was known as “the little girl with the big voice.” Key performances include off-Broadway shows such as The Fantasticks and Carnival.

She worked with international signing instructors at the Curtis Institute of Music and became a protégé of Metropolitan Opera singer Lois Hunt and Broadway’s Earl Wrightson.

“She was a brilliant woman,” said Chip Hollinger, her husband of nearly 50 years. “She had a vision and was full of life.”

Later, Hollinger worked as a fundraiser for Episcopal Academy. She wrote books about her mother and was a consultant for numerous nonprofits in the last decade of her life.

Her three sons remember her as wise and supportive because she wanted to help everyone she met.

“She was all about relationships,” her husband said. “When she met you, she wanted to know everything about you. She was a real people person.”
