The Next Chapter Bookstore in Sellersville has a business model that it hopes will encourage the next local James Michener or Pearl S. Buck. The shop’s enthusiastic support of county authors was covered by Bob Keeler at Montgomery News.

The retail location stocks new and gently used books for all ages. And it oversees an active calendar of events designed to give fledgling Bucks County writers a leg up. The opportunities it provides to unite content with purchasers include book signings and meet-and-greets.

Brenda Jones, for example, recently read aloud her children’s book Penguin or Polar Bear: Which Will You Be?

She admitted to having less difficulty writing the book than promoting it.

“There’s a lot of ins and outs that you don’t even realize that you have to be working on,” she said.

Helen Ward, store co-owner with her daughter, described its mission: “In our quaint little bookshop … we created a community gathering place, a launching pad for new Bucks County authors. We’ve established an environment for writers to showcase their books and generate a local following… .”
