A new dance team head coach has waltzed onto the campus of Bucks County Community College.

Aleesa Tucker joined the school staff in the past few weeks, working under the college’s Student Life and Athletic Program department.

Tucker developed a love of dance as a six-year-old. As a youngster, she studied — and mastered — the art’s signature styles: jazz, tap, hip hop, ballet contemporary, and modern.

She continued her training on the collegiate level at Stockton University in Galloway, NJ. As an undergrad, Tucker was a key member of the Stockton Dance Company, where she was a performer and choreographer. She deepened her skill while under the wing of several influential instructors.

One of Tucker’s goals is to rekindle the arts in school systems nationwide. Toward that end, she accumulated a New Jersey dance-teaching certificate, an education of dance award from Temple University’s Boyer College, and a Master of Science degree in Education from Purdue University.

In addition to her instruction on campus, Tucker teaches privately at the Christina Seix Academy, a Trenton, NJ, school that works to remove educational barriers that hinder children from marginalized communities. Tucker is founder of the school’s first dance program.
