River House at Odette’s, the New Hope hotel named for a Hollywood actress who operated a cabaret onsite, is asking Bucks County residents for help with an ambitious project.

The destination, in partnership with the New Hope Historical Society (NHHS), is assembling a limited time, museum-style exhibition on its namesake entertainer Odette Myrtil

Her journey from her Paris birthplace to Hollywood to Bucks County is riddled with timeline gaps; however, this much is verifiable: After a 1940s movie career, she operated a cabaret house onsite, starting in the early 1960s. Its name, Chez Odette’s, was melded into the new hotel for its 2020 opening.

The hotel and the NHHS hope that residents somewhere in the county still have an artifact or sharable recollection of her entertainment career. And that they would be willing to provide it for safe inclusion in the display.

The memorabilia will be viewed Eager at the Parry Mansion (New Hope) from March 8 to May 15, 2022. Loaned items will be returned after that.

“Since its inception, River House at Odette’s has been dedicated to honoring the historic Chez Odette and its legendary matriarch who has touched so many lives throughout the region,” stated Ron Gorodesky, President of Refined Hospitality, the property’s management company. “Through this joint effort, we hope to further weave ourselves into the fabric of this tight-knit community and collectively commemorate our cherished memories.”

Anyone wishing to donate a piece can contact the NHHS via email.
