The Eagles held a youth football clinic at the Spruance Elementary School.

Philadelphia Eagles launched a new girls’ flag football league last week and Lansdale Catholic High School is among the 15 participants, according to a staff report from Catholic Philly.

The inaugural season will kick off in the spring with an eight-game schedule for the teams. Along with the regular season, there will be an additional event held at Lincoln Financial Field. The league championship will take place at the Eagles’ NovaCare Complex practice facility.

The Eagles and its partners are committing $200,000 in uniforms and equipment to the Girls’ Flag Football league, including flags, footballs, and funds to start up the teams.

In addition, the team and the NFL Foundation are committing $100,000 through Leveling the Playing Field nonprofit to provide 6,000 sports bras in the School District of Philadelphia, at least one for every female athlete that needs one.

“For our female student-athletes to compete in an emerging sport and enjoy the countless benefits of organized athletic competition is very exciting,” said Stephen Haug, executive director of athletics for the schools of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, of which Lansdale Catholic is a member.
