FlowMetric, a Doylestown biotech company, has sold to a Kansas buyer. John George, Philadelphia Business Journal reported on FlowMetric’s sell decision, which came after numerous offers.

The Bucks County company is a specialized contract research organization (CRO), meaning it outsources research services to businesses in industries that include pharma, biotech, and medical devices.

Its buyer — KCAS Bioanalytical and Biomarker Services of Shawnee, Kans., — is also a CRO, albeit a much larger one.

The new owner is keeping the financial particulars of its acquisition under wraps. The Doylestown location, however, will be retained.

FlowMetric’s specialty is flow cytometry, a measuring technique of grouped cells’ characteristics, and cellular assays, creation of tools needed to study live-cell mechanisms.

Renold Capocasale, founder and CEO of FlowMetric, said: “We are excited about the partnership with KCAS. [Its] ability to provide the support and growth we need to expand our expertise and capacity will be a welcome opportunity to see our initial investment flourish with a mature and expanding organization, backed by a world-class leading growth investor.”

More on the purchase of FlowMetrics is at the Philadelphia Business Journal.
