Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Opens Second Inpatient Hospital in King of Prussia
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) just opened its second inpatient hospital in King of Prussia, the Middleman Family Pavilion. Built with families in mind, the new hospital aims to provide convenient access to CHOP’s excellent care and resources to children across the region.
“Since our founding in 1855, a key component of CHOP’s mission has been ensuring that our patients have access to high-quality, convenient care,” said Madeline Bell, the president and CEO of CHOP. “And now, with the opening of our second inpatient hospital, the Middleman Family Pavilion, we aim to provide families in the region with a full range of best-in-class pediatric services, in a comfortable and convenient setting, close to home.”
The over 250,000 square-foot inpatient hospital includes 52 private inpatient rooms, care for a vast range of pediatric services including orthopedics, plastic surgery, and ear, nose, and throat, an operating room suite with four operating rooms, and comprehensive radiology services.
The Pavilion will have the first 24/7 pediatric emergency department in the King of Prussia area.
The Emergency Department includes 20 beds that are equipped with the latest technology and most advanced diagnostic equipment.
“We wanted to make it easier for families to access our world-class care close to home, provide much-needed space to accommodate the growing number of patients who would need CHOP’s care in the future, and create a space – and build a team – that was very much a part of the King of Prussia community,” said Jan Boswinkel, Senior Vice President of the Middleman Family Pavilion. “We are excited for the bright future ahead.”
Several care teams at the hospital will also be working at CHOP’s Philadelphia Campus. Located at the intersection of several major highways, the Middleman Family Pavilion is perfectly located to be easily accessible to many communities throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and beyond.
