Vault Brewing Company, Yardley: A Visit Philadelphia Recommendation You Can Bank On

By

When 6abc did a suburban overview of notable brewpubs on the craft beer trail of Visit Philadelphia, Vault Brewing Company, Yardley, was an easy inclusion.

Vault Brewing Company indeed uses a vault. The unusual piece of equipment made sense being folded into the business model, considering the pub operates in the former Yardley National Bank, built in 1888. Referring to its role in the brewing process, managing partner Jim Cain noted, “This door here weighs 4,000 pounds. We put a refrigeration unit in there, and we keep our precious possessions in there.”

The branding on the beverages stored therein reflects financial and banking terms. There’s the Pro Rata, the Joint Credit, and the Five Cees. The latter describes the tried-and-true lending yardstick for evaluating borrowers: capacity, capital, collateral, conditions, and character.

The Dead Cat Bounce IPA, explained Cain, has nothing to do with expired felines. “It’s an expression [for] when a stock goes down and at some point, it pops back up again,” he said.

The menu also features wood-fired pizzas and small plates.
