Pa. State Police will be monitoring Bucks County roads with increased diligence this weekend.

Leaders of the Pennsylvania State Police have announced that the local law enforcement presence on Bucks County roads this holiday weekend will be noticeable. And active. Sarah Cassi, of Lehigh Valley Live, covered the increased diligence for nice — and naughty — behavior behind the wheel.

Pennsylvania State Police officers from Troop M, which covers Bucks County, have announced that the increased monitoring for safe driving practices will stretch from 12:01 on Christmas Eve (Dec 24) to 11:50 p.m. on Christmas Day (Dec. 25).

Troopers will be watching, with eyes as sharp as Santa’s, for infractions that include:

  • Aggressive driving
  • Distracted drivers
  • Seat-belt/child seat restraint lapses
  • Driving under the influence

During the 2019 Christmas Eve/Day time frame (pre-COVID-19), State police activity comprised assistance with 32 crashes, citations for 217 traffic violations, speeding tickets for 82 lead-foots, and six DUI arrests.

The annual reminder about road safety comes with an additional warning: the Pa. state law to move over and slow down for vehicles like police cars, ambulances and rescue transport, tow trucks, and PennDOT crews. Failure to do so results in a stiffer fine than last year and punishment by a revised point system.
