NorthPoint Development received approval from its local Board of Supervisors to subdivide and sell a parcel of land to further its plans for a massive warehouse in Falls Township. The board approved not only the sale but also, to accommodate the plans, a relocation of South Port Road.

The subdivision — 63 acres of a 90-acre purchase — is key to the creation of the Keystone Trade Center, a 15-million sq. ft. warehouse space. The project is expected to generate 5,000-10,000 new jobs in the area.

The approval of this transaction has cleared the way for NorthPoint attorney Michael Meginniss to approach the Falls Township Planning Commission to review the planned three buildings.

“This is to transition us to the phase two of our development,” he said. “This is an important component.”

The redevelopment project would be carried out over multiple phases with construction of 20 or more state-of-the-art industrial warehouse buildings for various Fortune 500 companies.

In all, NorthPoint purchased more than 1,800 acres of the former U.S. Steel property.

The developer will invest $1.5 billion into the transformation of the site; $40-$45 million of that investment will go to remediate it.
