A “ladies’ choice” dance call at a community event brought James Bradley to the attention of his now-wife Marguerite (Marge). Their footwork to Bing Crosby’s “Easter Parade” eventually led them to march down the aisle, and 64 years later, they’re still each other’s favorite partner. Kellie Patrick Gates, for The Philadelphia Inquirer, profiled the music they continue to make.

Marge picked Jim as her dance mate because she thought the cute guy he was standing with might have turned her down. She was 19, he was 22.

They became enamored of the little things about each other: He appreciated her Italian heritage; she liked that he held the car door for her.

They wed in 1957, swaying to “Easter Parade” at the reception.

The Bradleys lived with her parents in South Philadelphia before eventually building a home in Holland, convenient to Jim’s employment in Trenton.

They now live in Ocean City, N.J., where three generations of offspring visit often.

“Sixty-four years is a long time, so we must be doing something right,” Jim says.

Marge complimented the thoughtfulness of her life-mate: “He does such nice things for me all of the time,” she commented.

More on Marge and Jim Bradley, who connected over “Easter Parade,” is in The Philadelphia Inquirer.
