Matthew Wetzel and Don Thomas, founders of Thomas Matthew Designs in Wayne, always have their home ready for the Christmas season before Thanksgiving, writes Eileen Smith Dallabrida for Main Line Today.

“We usually have a party the first Saturday in December, and it takes a lot of time to work out the details,” said Wetzel.

For the pair, more is more, whether it is about design, dressing up, or organizing a party.

A pre-pandemic gathering at their East Coventry Township home, inspired by the 1980s prime-time soap opera Dynasty, included a pair of greeters and servers who circulated hors d’oeuvres and topped off drinks.

The two men pay close attention to every little detail. These include stocking briny olives for dirty-martini aficionados and ensuring they have the appropriate bourbon and cola for their Jack and Cokes.

When decorating, they put up a lifelike artificial tree and garlands and combine them with groupings of fresh fruit, veggies, and flowers. They also adorn their tree with black-and-white photographs of guests from previous holiday parties.
